Overview

The CCI Level 2 certification evaluates your ability to inspect surface preparation and protective coating installation on concrete substrates in both shop and field environments. Through hands-on practical labs, case studies, group exercises, and exam assessments, you’ll demonstrate skills in navigating coating specifications, recognizing concrete surface irregularities, conducting moisture testing, and developing inspection procedures. 

Your registration includes the CCI Level 2 Certification exams — practical inspection, inspection plan development, and the written theory exam (via Pearson). Passing these exams validates your advanced inspection knowledge and positions you as a trusted expert in concrete coating inspection.

Steps to certification

  1. Complete certification requirements

    Active AMPP CCI Level 1 Certification

    Successful completion of the Ethics for the Corrosion Professional course or an equivalent training

    Plus one of the following:

    • Active AMPP Basic Coatings Inspector
    • Active AMPP Certified Coatings Inspector
    • Active AMPP Senior Certified Coatings Inspector
  2. Take required exams

    Certification Exam – Concrete Coating Inspector Level 2 Practical exam (administered in the classroom).

    Certification Exam – Concrete Coating Inspector Level 2 Inspection Plan exam (administered in the classroom).

    Note: The practical and inspection plan exams are delivered as part of the Concrete Coating Inspector (CCI) Level 2 Course

    Note: This exam is available on Computer Based Testing (CBT) at Pearson.

  3. Submit an application for certification

    Complete and submit an application for CCI Level 2 certification (2 qualification references and 2 years (3,000 hours) bridge coating inspection work experience is required)

  4. Agree to AMPP Terms of Service

Visit My Certification Portal to log and manage your work experience and Professional Development Hours (PDH's) needed. Your work experience and PDH's will be submitted as part of your renewal application but you can input PDH's at any time.
